Level Up Your Skin Care Routine

If your skin is looking a little dull or dry or if you want to avoid it, it's time to change things up. Anytime is the perfect time for a new natural beauty routine. But it's even more important as you get into the colder months and drier air. This should include paying more attention to how you care for your skin and hair, and sticking to the routine on a daily basis.

Here are some ideas for starting a brand new natural beauty routine for the fall/winter season.

Exfoliate Your Entire Body

Instead of just exfoliating your face, why not scrub your entire body? This is great beauty routine that will pay off, especially during the winter. It will leave all your skin feeling and looking refreshed, as well as being nice and soft. Using a scrub with natural ingredients like shea butter, mango butter, organic hemp seed oil and cocoa butter will ensure skin penetration of the ingredients to deeply hydrate.

A customer-favorite scrub for the body is this Coconut Vanilla Scrub. It is highly effective at gently exfoliating and it transforms the way your skin feels and leaves your skin glowing.

IST Manager, Maddy says, "When I used the coconut scrub (normally a peach girl) I used it a lot on my elbows for dry patches I have during the winter. I love how soft it left my skin and really got all the dead skin off!".

The coconut vanilla scrub is available at any of our stores and available online.

Rinse Your Hair With Apple Cider Vinegar

For your hair care routine, now is the perfect time to try some new natural products. We know you likely have a favorite shampoo and conditioner--we do too. However, one great product to use on your hair--that you may have in your kitchen--is apple cider vinegar.

A simple rinse with apple cider vinegar will clean your hair and help to remove buildup or dandruff from your scalp. It can also add some shine to your hair. Who doesn't love a little shine right?

Dilute the vinegar with the same amount of water, then add it to your hair, rinsing well in the shower. For a better scent, Debbie, one of the ownrs of IST, adds a drop or two of an essential oil. Her favorite brand is doTERRA

Make a Yogurt and Oatmeal Mask

To level up you beauty routine, you don’t want to forget about your face. This is a good time to use a mask about once a week. You can make your own with just oatmeal and plain yogurt, providing all you need to moisturize your skin. The oatmeal is also going to exfoliate it in a gentle way.

Mix these ingredients together and rub the mask on your face, letting it sit for about 10 minutes. Rinse it off with cool water.

Get Plenty of Sleep

When you are worried and anxious and lie in bed at night, you can be sure that your skin suffers. Sleep is the time that the body restores itself--the skin cells repair themselves and regenerate. If your sleep is altered or shortened, the skin cells cannot perform at their very best. Aim to get at least 7-9 hours of sleep to help you and your skin look and feel your best and be in bed by 10pm--without your cell phone.

Level up your skin nutrition from the inside out

Your diet can affect your skin and how the foods you eat can help your gain and maintain a healthy, radiant glow! 🤩 Want to have people asking you how you have such smooth, clear, healthy looking skin? Well then, the answer lies in two important factors.

One is what you put into your body and the other is how you care for your skin--even though there are environmental factors that will influence it as well.

Eating a balanced diet is an essential prescription for healthy, beautiful, plump dewy skin and the good news is that the food you feed your body will not only show on your skin but do your body and health a favor as well.  More nutrition tips, a smoothie recipe and more can be found in Island Sun Tanning's Guide to Glowing Skin.
